When Izzy reached out to me to photograph his proposal to Tayloe on New Year’s Eve, I was so excited! From creating a decoy plan to organizing a surprise celebration and New Year’s Even party at Graylyn Estate, Izzy had carefully through through every detail.
Planning a proposal can feel overwhelming, but that’s where I come in. I will work with you to make sure everything comes together and goes smoothly and that you have beautiful photos to remember the moment. Here are the steps we will take when I photograph your proposal…
- Contact Your Photographer Early
This is a very important step! Once you’ve chosen a date, reach out to your photographer as soon as possible. Even though proposal often come together quickly, photogrpahers book up months in advance, espeically during wedding season. The sooner we connect, the more options we will have for locations, timing, and lighting.
2. Walk Through the Plan at the Proposal Location
This is the single most important step of planning your proposal! (If you don’t have a location picked out yet, I can help with that. I’m happy to offer suggestions based on lighting, privacy, and overall look.) Once you’ve chosen your spot, we will meet there ahead of time to go over the details. I’ll learn exactly where you’ll be, where I’ll be waiting and hiding, so you can focus on the moment without worrying about logistics.
3. Post-Proposal Photos
After she says “YES!,” I’ll introduce myself and we’ll take a few portraits of the newly engaged couple! If family & friends are present, we’ll do group photos too. If you’ve planned a party or dinner, I can continue documenting that celebration too.
4. Think Through the Post-Proposal Plans
After the proposal, what’s next? Think about heading to a special dinner at her favorite place or hosting a celebration for family and friends. We can work together to capture those moments too. Including post-proposal photos helps tell the full story of the day you got engaged!
5. You will have your photos back FAST!
I know how excited you’ll be to share your proposal! That’s why I deliver your full gallery within 48 hours. You won’t be waiting weeks to see your images. You’ll have them quickly to share with family and friends and to make that Instagram post showing off your new fiance!
If you’re planning a proposal in Winston Salem, or anywhere around the world, and want a photographer who will help guide you through the process, I’d love to chat. Reach out to start planning!
