One of my favorite parts of my job is how amazing it is to get to know the couples and families that I take photos of. When you book a session with me, I know what your expectations are. You are showing up to get photographed and I am showing up with my camera to do my job. But my job is more than just knowing how to use my camera. Getting to know you is the best part of being a photographer.
Most of the time, I am photographing people that I have never met before. I get to know people and learn their story. Sometimes, I get to photograph people that I know, like Ethan & Christy who are some of my best friends. I love getting to know you and it makes my heart happy when I have couples and families who come back year after year. I have the honor of watching families grow and kids get older.
Last year, I had the opportunity to be on the other side of the camera and I was photographed professionally for the first time. I remember the excitement of getting my photos back and being so grateful to the photographer that took them. I realized that I get the delight of delivering photos that make my clients giddy. So 1 Peter 4:10 became the mission verse for my business. It says “each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” There are various forms in which we can be stewards of God’s grace. I am so grateful for the opportunity to use my gift to serve others by capturing memories that will last a lifetime.
