While I’m based in North Carolina, I’ve had the chance to spend time in Boston this past year thanks to my husband’s job. I’ve had the opportunity to meet new people and have loved photographing in this city!
Jill & Mark’s session is a great example of making the most of unexpected weather on your session day. Jill is a photographer local to the Boston area (Jill MacTaggart Photography – check her out!) and I was excited when they agreed to get in front of my camera. One of the reasons I love photographing other photographers when I’m traveling is that they get it! They know the best locations, the best light, and pick the best outfits.
We had originally planned for a sunset session at Fan Pier Park in the Seaport neighborhood. The Boston skyline views here are the best in the city and Jill & Mark were planning for colorful, spring outfits. But about an hour before our session started, the clouds rolled in and the temperatures dropped to freezing! The skyline disappeared behind a layer of fog.
That’s when we decided to pivot! Jill & Mark switched into cozy outfits that fit the new mood of the session. While it wasn’t what we originally planned, the foggy weather actually made the photos feel intimate, less about the city, and more about Jill & Mark.
If you’re a couple looking for a New England photographer, I’d love to photograph you during one of my visits. And for my Winston Salem and NC clients, don’t worry! Winston Salem is still home and I’m booking for 2025 & 2026.
