Mallory & Jack’s engagement session at Reynolda Gardens was relaxed and genuinely fun. They were up for anything and spent their session laughing and playing around with each other!

My Hybrid Workflow

I photographed their session using both digital and medium-format film. I still shoot mostly digital, but I’m most intentional when I shoot film. I look for soft light for my film photos because film handles sunlight in a really beautiful way. Film brings a classy look to a final gallery that just isn’t the same as photos from my digital camera.

Digital works especially well when there’s a lot of movement. Mallory & Jack loved to have fun with walking, running, lifts, and dancing, so digital was perfect for those moments. When we slowed down for a few poses, I switch to film.

Mallory & Jack were great to work with and I cannot wait until their spring 2026 wedding day at The Crest!
